Jaime Witts
Jaime Witts has been teaching dance for over 20 years. Her passion for musicality, investigative approach to biomechanics, and deep exploration of pedagogy were inspired during her time studying under Truman Finney. After moving to Austin in 2001 to pursue a dance career, it was Truman who encouraged her to teach, mentoring and guiding her to think about dance and teaching in a way that resonated deeply. In 2004, Jaime started teaching at the Ballet Austin Academy and joined Ballet Austin as a company dancer later that year. While performing and teaching, her curiosity about movement led her to explore the dynamic counterpoints of dance, power and grace, strength and flexibility, dynamicism and subtlety of expression. Now retired from performing, she continues to bring this passion for athleticism to students across Texas, including BHumn Arts Ensemble. Jaime’s class is full of energy and encouragement and always contains elements of various styles of dance, pilates, yoga, and strength training for injury recovery and prevention.
